212 LEVY, I. Judson, Rev. First Moncton United Baptist Church Men's Brotherhood Presents In the Shepherd's Care. Signed by the author
First Moncton United Baptist Church, Moncton, N.B., 1955,
LEVY, I. Judson, Rev. First Moncton United Baptist Church Men's BrotherhoodPresents In the Shepherd's Care (Moncton, N.B. : First Moncton United Bapt ist Church), n.d. [1955?]. Pp [1]-39,(1). 8vo, blue stapled cardcovers, lettered in black. Isaac Judson 'Jud' Levy (b. July 15, 1907, Sherwood, Lunenburg County, Nova Scotia - d. October 16, 1992, Falmouth, Hants County, NovaScotia). "The ten sermons which appear in this booklet were preached, in t wo series, at the regular Sunday afternoon services ol The First Moncton United Baptist Church during the 1954-5 season, and were broadcast over radiostation CEKW. These sermons are now being published by the "Brotherhood" i n the hopes that many who heard them, and others, may be helped by having these simple thoughts preserved in permament form. The first series, six in number, is based on the twenty-third psalm - surely, one of the treasure spots of the Bible. The aim of these sermons is, through tracing the figure of speech of the shepherd and sheep, to show God's loving care for His people. We trust that some one, beset with the trials and ills of life, may, even while reading these sermons, come to know that he is "in the shepherd's care", and believe that, even though he must walk through the dark valley, all is well with him in the end. The oxiier series, four in number, is basedon Jesus' Parables of the Lost that appear in the fifteenth chapter of the Gospel story as written by Luke. Here, in these simple stories, we see ref lected the passionate concern of God for the lost - for "any one of them" may decide to come to the Father, and to make Heaven ring with the joy of his home coming." Pp (2),3-22,(2) including covers. 8vo, white stapled wrappers, lettered in black. Isaac Judson 'Jud' Levy (b. July 15, 1907, Sherwood, Lunenburg County, Nova Scotia - d. October 16, 1992, Falmouth, Hants County, Nova Scotia). "The five sermons which appear in this pamphlet were preached from the pulpit of The First Baptist Church of Moncton, N. B. during January and February, 1950. [...] This particular series of sermons grew out of the conviction that people need to be informed regarding the essential things in our Faith. We need to know what these principles have meant in the past, what they mean for the present and future, and, above all, to know that they are not automatically safe. They must be guarded to-day even as they were fought for in the past. That these sermons may help toward these worthy ends is the purpose for which they were preached, and it is my sincere hope that they help toward the realization of these same ends wherever they may be read." 220 LOTZ, Pat, (ed.) Affairs with Old Houses : Personal Stories About Perserving Heritage Houses in Nova Scotia. First Edition, Signed
Nimbus Publishing Limited, Halifax, NS, 1999, ISBN:1551092956
LOTZ, Pat, (ed.). Affairs with Old Houses : Personal Stories About Perserving Heritage Houses in Nova Scotia. (Halifax, Nova Scotia) : "Co-published by Heritage Trust of Nova Scotia and Nimbus Publishing Limited", (1999). First Edition. Pp. (10),[xi]-xii,[1]-195,(1). Illustrated. 8vo, maroon art-illustrated card covers, cream lettering to front and spine. Patricia Ann 'Pat' Lotz (b. October 20, 1930, Brighton, England - February 13, 2012, Halifax), writer, researcher, journalist. "Like all affairs of the heart, the decision to restore an old house is often a leap of faith. Beneath its many charms and possibilities lie the secrets of past owners and builders. Some, like the Loyalist fireplace hidden behind three layers of fire brick in the White-Irin house, are treasures; others, like the lead paint in the J.B. North House, are potential trageidies. However, according to the sixteen candid first-hand accounts presented here, when all is said and done (which it seldom is), the satisfaction and rewards of bringing an old house back to life is worth the time, money, and attention expended. This very readable andhighly enjoyable book chronicles the experiences of an eclectic selection of owners and houses around Nova Scotia, from Jim How's de Gannes House in Annapolis Royal to Stephen Townsend's 'Next Door to Leonard's' in Halfway Cove. Each owner had his or her reason for getting involved and each took a very different approach to the relationship. Affairs with Old Houses is a must for anyone contemplating an affair with an older house - the pitfalls are obvious and the solutions inspirational. It is also a must for the previously smitten and the never tempted, if for no other reason than to confirmwhat they already suspect - there is more to an affair with an old house t han meets the eye." - from the rear cover. Foreword by Lieuteneant-GovernorJ. James Kinley; Introduction by Pat Lotz. Contents: 1. Rhonda Kelly on th e Dickey House, Amherst; 2. Peggy Carson on 98 Water Street, Pictou; 3.
