"Strange as it may seem, this is the first travel book to cover the whole Province of Nova Scotia. In other words, it is the only book which takes its readers to the scenic and historic high-spots of both the Nova Scotian mainland and the Island of Cape Breton, considered by many the province's better half. Here, also, are those occasional asides into humor and philosophy which give to Mr Longstreth's books their unique flavor. While such virtues are all present in "To Nova Scotia,"there is one more, an elderly male companion, Doctor Urbanus Weagle, who accompanies Mr. Longstreth, contributing incisive comment as he goes. These two, commencing at Halifax, work down the "South Shore" with its little towns: Chester, discovered by Philadelphians; Lunenburg, home of the famous Bluenose; Liverpool, where they catch the big tuna; Shelburne of the Loyalist days; and others. From Yarmouth they turn north through Digby and Annapolis Royal and the Evangeline country and Pictou, first settled by Philadelphians [?], and so on to Cape Breton. Here, also, are the Bras d'Or Lakes and Louisbourg and the Margaree. To anyone in need of quiet beauty and a cool summer and who does not yet know Nova Scotia, this book will be a revelation."- from the dustjacket.

Very good in lightly nicked, price-clipped dustjacket. A lovely, bright, tidy copy. 35.00
