Francis Sylvester Mahony (b. December 31, 1804, Cork – d. May 18, 1866, Paris), also known by the pen name Father Prout, was an Irish humorist and journalist.

Father Prout was the pseudonym of Reverend Francis Sylvester Mahony who gave up his clerical position for a literary career. His "Prout Papers" in Fraser's Magazine were popular. Mahony at one point was director of the magazine. During the last eight years of his life his articles formed the chief attraction of the "Globe" newspaper. The Reliques of Father Prout originally appeared in two volumes in 1836 with illustrations by Maclise. They were reissued in Bohn's Illustrated Library (Messrs. Bell & Daldy).

Spine sunned to brown and partly detached with piece missing, cloth worn and corners bumped, inner hinges cracked, tears to frontis at folds, pencilled names, else good only. As is. 45.00
