(Literature - Children - 19thC). Stories for Little Trouble-the-House. NY: Thomas Nelson and Sons, n.d. [ca. 1880?], from dated gift inscription. Pp. [96], unpaginated. With [48] plates, including the frontis. 8vo, brown cloth, decorative floral embellishments to the front, small colour pictoral onlay to front, silver illustration with gilt borders and gilt titles to front, black titles to spine. A collection of one page stories with corresponding full page illustrations opposite, suitable for young children. Stories include "THe Little Matchseller", "Queen Victoria and the Bible", "The Crown Princess of Prussia", "Lucy and the Negro Servant", "The Strong Blacksmith"and "Who Stole the Turnips?". Boards all but detached (literally hanging b y a thread), with signatures separating, small section from title page missing at the lower corner, occasional light smudging in the margins, small chips and some fraying to the spine ends and corners. The front cover is surprisingly crisp and bright, as are the majority of the plates. With inked inscription dated 1880 to the ffep. 40.00
