"The greatest and most important naval ev ent since Trafalgar" was a crushing defeat for the Russian Navy, who lost ten times as many men as their Japanese counterparts. "Overwhelmed by the volume of Japanese fire -- frequency of hitting rather than weight of shells", the Russian navy was decimated. Captain Semenoff was on board one of the Knyaz Suvoroff, one of the decimated vessels and flag, and it is his account that is presented herein. (Quotations from Clarke's preface).
