From contacts with groups of Eskimo, he became aware of the human problems of the Arctic and urged the government to establish a research station at Pangnirtung on Baffin Island. His principal duties were to attend two well-equipped hospitals and a population of over fifteen hundred Indians and Eskimos in the Mackenzie River delta. In his position as senior government official a multitude of tasks had to be performed, but he found time to establish the first dairy farm ever operated in Canada above the Arctic Circle." - from the dj.
