Pp 460, frontis., [28] leaves plates. 8vo, blue cloth, gilt to front and spine. Stothert's letters in fact form the bulk of the text, linked with explanatory passages by the author. The Chaplain is a keen observer and a decent stylist, and his naval vocation ensures that the seaward aspects of the campaigning are adequately reported. Front inner hinge cracked, rubbed, tiny nicks to head and tail of spine, light foxing to initial and final leaves, owner's inscription, else vg. 300.00
