Illustrated. 4to, navy cloth, silver titles to front and spine. The author draws on many resources in his attempt to bring to life the wreck of the Bonhomme Richard,a French ship lent to the American Navy and under the command of Captain J ohn Paul Jones. "Ever since the Bonhomme Richard sank off Flamborough Head after defeating HMS Serapis in 1779, there has been speculation about her appearance. Contemporary paintings and engravings are inaccurate, manuscriptrecords are sketchy, and the original plans have not survived. [...] In th is bvook, Jean Boudriot has called on the talents of many people, from bothsides of the Atlantic, to achieve the goal which he had set: nothing less than bringing to life the wreck of a ship which lies in the deep waters of the North Sea." - from the dj.
