Pp. 491; 650. 8vo, brown cloth with decorative in blind borders, gilt to spine. Gift inscription to the ffep of Vol. I reads "To The Right Honourable Lord John Russell, &c., &c., &c., / From the Author". Lord Russell was a former statesman and twice the prime minister of Britain (1846-52, 1865-6). Hinges cracking, minimal foxing to first few pages, spine ends and worn, corners bumped, cloth rubbed, previous owner's name inked under the inscription, else vg. for the two volumes 300.00
