CALKINS, Earnest Elmo. The Lure of the Little Ships. NY: Privately Printed, 1927. Pp 18. Tipped in frontis. 8vo, blue p.c.b. with pale blue ill. paper panel. #5 of an edition of 300. A handsomely printed and bound volume of reflections on shipmodelling as a humane art. The laid in letter by Calkins notes how his two great passions- ships and printing- were combined in this small volume. The author was in fact a professional printer for many years, who also maintained an atelier in his Fifth Avenue co-op where, presumably, this book was produced.
