(b. 1931, Antigonish, Nova Scotia - d. January 17, 2012, Halifax), was the seventh bishop of the Diocese of Antigonish. "Colin Campbell was born in Antigonish, Nova Scotia the youngest son of seven children, but grew up in Halifax and attended local schools there. Since ordination at Saint Thomas Aquinas Church in 1956, he has enjoyed a varied career. After assisting at Saint Mary's Cathedral (1956-58), and at Saint Catherine's Parish (1958-62), he enrolled in a two-year program of social work at the University of Montreal where he obtained an M.A. degree. Returning to Nova Scotia, he was appointed Director of the Social Services Commission of the Archdiocese of Halifax and at the same time assisted on a part-time basis at two parishes. He taught at Mount Saint Vincent University, Holy Heart Seminary,Maritime School of Social Work of Dalhousie University, the Nova Scotia In stitute of Technology, and the Nova Scotia Teachers' Summer School. He has served as pastor for Saint Thomas Aquinas Parish, Halifax (1969-75), and Saint Anthony's Parish, Dartmouth (1975-77), as Vicar General of the Diocese (1969-77), and as Vicar General-Administration of the Diocese (1977-80), and pastor of the Immaculate Conception Parish, Truro (1980-83). He has recently been appointed as national director of the Society of the Propagaion ofthe Faith for Canada. Monsignor Campbell has won a wide following through his writings in various publications including his weekly column, "One View", in the Halifax Chronicle-Herald.." - from the rear cover.
