Frances Manwaring Caulkins (1795-1869), born and died i n New London, Connecticut, centered her literary attention on two radicallydifferent areas of concern: the religious education of young people and lo cal history. She began her work in the 1830s writing for the American TractSociety, which published a wide range of her work over the next 30 years, including The Child's Hymn Book (1835).
