A native of Cornwall, he was nicknamed the "Cornish metaphysician" for his works on thehuman soul, the nature of God, and the deity of Christ. He also wrote on h istorical and biographical themes. Very worn (lacking most of spine label, front hinge detached, rear outer hinge cracked, waterstaining and wear to margins of leather), lengthy pencilled inscription to ffep, previous owner'sname penned to bottom of title page, else good – a reading copy only.
