Abiography of the life of the American-born wife of Wesleyan minister Humph rey Pickard, who was stationed for extended periods in New Brunswick and Nova Scotia in the early part of the nineteenth century, as well as a selection of correspondences between the two. Also includes a selection of her ownpersonal writings, of which are included the sketches: "The Little Remembr ancer", "Are they not our brethren?", "Supposed Dialogue between a little Heathen girl and the daughter of a Missionary", "Farewell of the closing year", "Beauty of Contentment", "The Spider", "The Savior's Visit to the Sisters of Bethany", "The Coronation", "Thistle-down", "The Messenger of Peace","Home", "A Sketch", "Notes of Memory", "Watch Night", "The Strength of the Promises", "Looking unto Jesus", and "To-day if ye will hear His voice, ha rden not your hearts"; and the fragments "Evening", "Things seen are temporal", "Man alone ungrateful", "The pleasure-taker warned", "The storm-bird'sflight", "The Bible", "Prayer", "Redeem the time", "the Future", and "Our Reward."
