Double column. Oblong 8vo, blue clothwith silver decoration to front and silver lettering to front and spine. " A parade of soldiers in kilts and sporrans, their spats shining white, red hackle prominent on their Balmorals, some with red sashes across their chests. At the head of the parade, the pipes and drums play with stirring flair. Nothing evokes the romance and the camaraderie of the army more than the Highland Regiments -- the most storied and famous fighting units in the world. Among them, one regiment stands above all others: The Black Watch, the Royal Highland Regiment. In Canada, the Regular Force battalions of the Black Watch were formed in 1951 in response to the Cold War. Drawing on five reserve units from Toronto, Montreal, Vancouver, Victoria, and NOva Scotia, the Black Watch was first based in Aldershot, Nova Scotia, and later at CFBGagetown. They were stationed in Germany with NATO, served in the Korean C onflict, and participated in the United Nations peacekeeping force in Cyprus. Then, in 1970, the Regular Force Battalions were disbanded, and the Black Watch reverted to a one-battalion militia unit." - from the dj. Vg-fine in dj. 25.00
