The American edition (1933) preceded the British edition (1934). Ford Madox Ford (born Ford Hermann Hueffer (b. December 17, 1873 d. June 26, 1939) was an English novelist, poet, criti c and editor whose journals, The English Review and The Transatlantic Review, were instrumental in the development of early 20th-century English literature. Ford's memoirs of London, Paris and New York, and of his encounters with Conrad, Hemingway, Proust, and Joyce, among other writers. Contents : I. "Domine Dirige Nos." II. "Fluctuat Nec Mergitur."
