STEVENS, Gerald F. Old Stone House. Ryerson Press, Toronto , 1954, STEVENS, Gerald F. The Old Stone House. Toronto : The Ryerson Press, (1954). First Edition. Pp (6),1-119,(3). Illustrated. 8vo, brown cloth, maroon lettering to spine. Watters p.582. The Old Stone House is an exciting and often a very humorous tale. Two cosmopolites, full to the gills with city ways, with what is known as sophistication, decide, as so many have decided, to seek a haven in the country. This book is a chronicle of their adventure, their hilarious house hunting, and their somewhat less romantic job of mov ing in and tidying up. An old stone farmhouse calls for quite a bit of altering and fixing and tidying. In the end there emerged a jewel of its kind, the nucleus of a museum of Leeds County antiquities, but above all a home about which more will be written in the days to come. The Old Stone House gives promise of becoming one of the historic houses of Canada. - from the dj. Contemporary penned name, else very good, nice copy in lightly nicked dustjacket. 45.00 Price:
