Pp (11),i-xvii,1-287.Figures. 4to, blue cloth, gilt lettering to front board and spine. “The me tabolism of GLA and EPA was studied in African vervet monkeys receiving a western atherogenic diet (WAD, %B fat 43,5%, P:S 0,3) or a high carbohydratediet (HCD, %E fat ,5%, P:S 3,4). Twenty female animals were divided into f our groups matched for age. Groups I and II received a HCD, while groups III and IV received a WAD for six weeks (diet stabilization phase). Thereafter Groups I and III were supplement with a fatty acid concentrate containing70% GLA (340,6 mg/kg/day for group I and 421,7 mg/kg/day for group Ill) as tree acid (HCD-GLA; WAD-GLA), while group II and IV were supplemented with a fatty acid concentrate containing 50% EPA (318,2 mg/kg/day for group II and 433,7 mg/kg/day for group iv; as free acid (HCD-EPA; WAD-EPA).” - from the Abstract.
