1 SETON, Moira MAURA, Sister Eire,, 1941,
SETON, Moira. Eire., 1941. Pp (8). Small 8vo, green stapled card covers, rounded corners. Not in Watters, Rhodenizer, or Laugher. Born in Halifax, Mary Power (1881-1957) entered the community of Sisters of Charity in 1905 and took her first vows in 1907, thus becoming Sister Maura. Shebegan to write when she was only six years old and published her first poe m, "Heart of Christ" when she was fifteen. She taught at Mount Saint Vincent (1907-1916), the University of Notre Dame (summers, 1921-1925), and was aprofessor of English at Mount Saint Vincent College (1925-1957). Occasiona lly using the pseudonyms "Mary Seton" or "A Sister of Charity" she published poems and literary essays in periodicals on both sides of the Atlantic. This poem on Ireland probably explains the use of the name Moira Seton instead of Mary Seton, Moira being the Irish form of Mary. Spine sunned, vertical crease, "S.M." penned under her name on title page, else very good. Scarce. 45.00
