Small 8vo, half calf, with marbled boards, gilt lettered green leather title block and seven gilt bands to spine, marbled endpapers. An eclectic volume on tavern history and background, with copious information on the naming of taverns, the design and historical background of the trademark tavern signs, as well as information on clubs and organizations that functioned within London's taverns during the nineteenth century. Dampstaining to initial and final leaves affecting frontispiece, engraved title page, and folding plate (though not evident to the bulk of body of leaves), some light wear to edges and leather, occasional light foxing and marginalia, heradic bookplate to front pastedown, else vg. 200.00
