Fletcher has utilized the fact that a great traffic in stolen antiques goes on between England and America. This thievery is so thoroughly organized that even our best-known and expenenced collectors have become indirectly thereceivers of stolen goods. Mr. Fletcher traces a particularly thrilling ro bbery to its source through his famous Scotland Yard men who may seem, he writes, "the worst muddlers one has ever encountered, but they get there!" Acharacter study of the thief, running all through the book, is quite suffi cient to make it notable among the novels of Mr. Fletcher." (from the dj).
