Then, after an account of the work of the Elliot and Asquith Commissions in 1945 and their proposals for advancing the educational system to auniversity level, the author describes in detail how the College was const ituted and brought into existence by the frst Principal, Dr K. Mellanby. The history of the College from its opening in 1948 to the Present day is fully told and the book ends with a chapter containing the author's views on the future of university education in Nigeria and how this mignt be developed. An appendix contains the names of the students who have been admitted tothe College, and also the names of graduates and of the College Council.
