Frontis with tissue guard. Small 8vo, blue cloth, gilt bord ers and cameo portrait of Nelson to the front, gilt titles and embellishments to spine. Short histories of several of the Royal Navy's most famous sailing ships and the gallant captains that sailed aboard them. Includes the "Mary Rose", Sir Francis Drake and the "Golden Hind", Admiral Robert Blake and his flag-ships the "Triumph", the "Swiftsure" and the "St. George", the "Royal Charles", the "Centurion", William Bligh and the "Bounty", the "Arethusa", a French frigate captured in May 1759 and added to the British Navy under the same name, Nelson's "Victory, and the story of the shipwreck of the "Alceste". Ex-libris Pullen. Binding cracked in several places, spine slightly sunned, with some wear to the head and tail, corners bumped, the occasional foxed spot here and there, inked presentation inscription to the front paste-down, else a very good copy. 125.00
