Colonel Meinertzhagen distinguishes between what he calls professional predators (hawks, owls) and amateur predators (certain passerines, storks, herons, cormorants, divers, gulls, skuas andauks) and gives some notes on submersion by reptiles and mammals. Many des criptions of the manner of hunting and killing are given under individual species and there are also many notes on closely allied subjects such as food preferences, competition in territories, herding and flocking, mobbing, locust birds and bird-snake relationship." - from the dj.
