Containing, besides the large number of Astronomical Observations, and the Farmer's Calendar for every month of the year, a greater varietythan any other Almanack, of New, Useful and Entertaining Matter. Pp [1]-120,+ 12 blank leaves interleaved with calendar + 4 pp of ads tipped in at front. Index. Small 8vo, elaborate blind-stamped maroon cloth, with gilt lettering to front board. First published as "The Farmer's almanack, for the year of our Lord 1824", the title was changed to "Belcher's Farmer's Almanack" in 1832. The founder of the Almanac was Clement Horton Belcher. He published the Almanac from 1824 until his death in 1869. After Belcher's death, the firm of McAlpine and Barnes continued the publication under the founder's name until 1930. Includes list of Light Houses on the Coast of Nova Scotia, and on the Coast of NewBrunswick, in the Bay of Fundy (pp 36-38), and of ships and staff of The N avy (pp 89-89), and 12 pages of advertisements at rear. Spine faded, light damp-staining to back cover, front inner hinge detached, bookplate, else a very good copy. Uncommon. 125.00
