Bruns, Angling Books of the Americas, R72, Watters p.638. Hand, A Bookman's Guide to Hunting, Shooting, Angling, and Related Subjects, R201. "The author undertakes to deliver 'a round, unvarnished tale;' his yarn is the plain story of what he calls two 'common and inadequate' fishermen, their tribulations and exaltations on a fishing trip through the great Algonquin Park in Ontario. What happened to them has happened, with variations, to hundreds of their kind. [...] The narrative beigns properly at the beginning, with plans worked out in winter against the enchanted days, with the equipping of the expedition, with all thenearly sacred ritual of preparing canoe and tent and tackle and grub. Then come the actual setting forth, and the tentative easing out of civilized l ife into the life of the bush. [...] And now there is the moment when our two happy 'duffers' shove off the canoe for the first stretch of paddling, and taste the sweetness of ther realization that the world is well lost." - from the dustjacket. With jaunts to the fork of the Crow and White Partridge rivers, Lake Lavieille, Lake Lavague, and many points in between. "A light-hearted story of a camping trip in Algonquin Park in Ontario. Great whimsy, and not a dissertation on how to present a fly, drift a nymph or work a glide." - from Bruns, p. 385. Their challenge to authority increased until the Assembly was forced to bring in British troops and Cuban chasseurs tocombat the guerilla successes of the Maroons. 47243 ROBINSON, Charles M., III CROOK, George General Crook and the Western Frontier. First Edition in dustjacket
University of Oklahoma Press, Norman, 2001, ISBN:0806133589
ROBINSON, Charles M., III. General Crook and the Western Frontier. Norman :University of Oklahoma Press, (2001). First Printing. Pp (6),[vii]-xix,(3) ,[3]-386,(10). Illustrated. Maps. 8vo, white cloth, metallic blue letteringto spine. "General George Crook was one of the most prominent soldiers in the frontier West. General William T. Sherman called him the greatest Indian fighter and manager the army ever had. And yet, on hearing of Crooks death, the Sioux chief Red Cloud lamented, "He, at least, never lied to us." Asa young officer in the Pacific Northwest, Crook emphasized training and ma rksmanship--innovative ideas in the antebellum army. Crooks career in the West began with successful campaigns against the Apaches that resulted in his promotion to brigadier general. His campaign against the Lakota and Cheyennes was less successful, however, as he alternately displayed deep insight, egotism, indecision, and fear. Charles M. Robinson pieces together the contradictions of Crooks career to reveal that although the general sometimesmicromanaged his campaigns to the point that his officers had virtually no flexibility, he gave his officers so much freedom on other occasions that they did not fully understand his expectations or objectives. Crook resented any criticism and was quick to blame both subordinates and superiors, yetRobinson shows that much of Crooks success in the Indian wars can be attri buted to the efforts of subordinate officers. He also details Crooks later efforts to provide equal rights and opportunities for American Indians. General Crook and the Western Frontier, the first full-scale biography of Crook, uses contemporary manuscripts and primary sources to illuminate the generals personal life and military career." (from the dj). Contents : Preface.Introduction: General Crook and history. 1. Frontiersman. 2. Indian fighte r. 3. Volunteer officer. 4. The Shenandoah campaign. 5. Sheridan takes command. 6. And although on top of it all they had the powerto kill people, it was very frightening up there, knowing the other man wa s trying to kill you. So if, between flights, their behaviour was often irresponsible, it was because playing at being God was an addiction. Piece of Cake paints a fair, honest and breathlessly exciting picture of a squadron in RAF Fighter Command in the first twelve months of the war, from the so-called phoney war in France until the end of the Battle of Britain. We get to know the pilots intimately, share their triumphs and disasters. But DerekRobinson steers away from the popular image of them as invariably gallant, brilliant and indefatigable. That was, he says, good backs-to-the-wall rhe toric but gives a false impression of the way the Battle went. In this enthralling book he has written the best novel about the RAF since his own bestselling Goshwak Squadron (shortlisted for the Booker Prize in 1971), which was universally recognised as the outstanding account of the previous generation's flying men at war." (from the dj). Derek Robinson (born 1932) is a British author best known for his military aviation novels full of black humour. Penned name, else very good in spine-browned, unclipped dustjacket. 45.00

"The Journals of Knud Rasmussen is the second feature film by Zacharias Kunuluk and Norman Cohn and the Inuit filmmaking community of Igloolik Isuma Productions. The Journals of Knud Rasmussen was the Opening Night selection of the 2006 Toronto International Film Festival and chosen Best Film by the imagineNative Film and Media Arts Festival, American Indian Film Festival and Alba International Film Festival (Italy). In addition to the complete original English and Inuktitut language screenplays of the The Journals of Knud Rasmussen, this book collects a mix of Inuit, Native and non-Native writers reflecting on history and memory as media of cultural identity and how high-definition filmmaking brings new meaning to such 'identities' in the 21st century. 47273 ROBINSON, J. Armitage Commentary on Ephesians : The Greek Text with Introduction Notes and Indexes. Second Edition, Eighth Printing in dustjacket

ROBINSON, J. Armitage. Commentary on Ephesians : The Greek Text with Introduction Notes and Indexes. Grand Rapids, Michigan : Kregel Publications, (1980). Second Edition, Eighth Printing. Pp (6),[1]-314. Index. 8vo, blue cloth, gilt lettering to spine. "After its initial publication, this commentarywas said by some reviewers to surpass even the great commentary of B. F. W estcott. Today it remains a classic, written by a great Christian scholar whose fruitful labor on this Epistle spanned a decade. His brief introduction sets the scene well for the reader, who is then given an English translation with exposition, notes on critical problems, and numerous references torelated Biblical texts. This section is especially helpful to those unskil led in Greek; yet even the most advanced student will benefit from the wealth of information set forth there. The Greek text follows, accompanied by copious exegetical notes which reveal the depth of Robinson's understandmg of the Epistle as well as his mastery of the Greek language. Ten appendices otter turther elucidation of Greek terms and discussion of critical questions regarding tne lexi. The indices of Greek words and of subjects add convenience to the other merits of this volume. Thus this work is of great valueto every serious student of God's Word who desires a better understanding of Paul's Epistle to the Ephesians." (from the dj). Very good in dustjacket. 25.00

Illustrated. 8vo, black cloth, red vignette to front board, red lettering to spine. Spadoni & Donnelly 1492. Not in Watters or Rhodenizer. "What has happenedto the authority of Parliament in the long years of one-party domination i s worse than conquest; it is usurpation. It is usurpation engineered bv bureaucrats elected and appointed; men all solemnly and sincerely convinced that they alone have the brains; that they alone can be trusted; to exercise the powers ot government, spend trie people's money, shape the country's destiny as these things should be done. This large assumption is accepted on faith by an obedient parliamentary majority voting to ministerial order on the principle, new to liberalism, that Uncle knows Dest. Worse: neither theusurpers nor tneir spear-carriers can laugh at themselves. None is any lon ger capable of laughing at himself and his pretensions. There were a coupleof dismal sessions when this monstrous and paralyzing solemnity of accepta nce infected the Opposition, too. In at least two Opposition parties the infection is cured. Laughter returned to the House with the defeat of Mr. Howe's bid for limitless ministerial powers in 1955. Laughter mingled with andstrengthened the honest parliamentary indigestion with which the Tories an CCF-ers joined to fight their losing battle for responsible government in the Pipeline Debate of 1956. Where there is laughter there is nope, in thatunalterable faith thiss book is offered to fellow-Canadians who wish to sa lvage for their children the parliamentary freedom which is theirs by rightof inheritance."
