With the heraldic engraved bookplate of Fraser, of Ledeclune, Baronet affixed to front fixed endpaper. Jacques-Nicolas Bellin was an employee at the Depot des Cartes et Plans de la Marine in France. His compilation of the maps illustrating Charlevoix's Histoire et description [,,,] .de la Nouvelle France... Halifax: Nimbus Publishing Ltd and Nova Scotia Museum, 1988.) Boards somewhat rubbed, front board essentially detached, spine considerably worn particularly at head and tail. Text lightly browned, and showing occasional light off-setting and very occasional scattered foxing. The Bellin map shows light off-setting overall, is cropped along lower left side (with loss only of the outer frame line), has a mended 1 inch tear to lower left edge (affecting design), and is traversed horizontally by a superfluous crease along the length of which there is some browning inconsistent with the agreeable appearance of the map elsewhere. 2,000.00
