[post-1859]. Over 200 leaves. 4to, rebound in new black leather spine and black endpapers, with original embossed brown leather boards, with "E. Frank Howe" in gilt to front board and "Yale 1859" in gilt to spine. The collection consists of engraved plates and facsmiles of letters to E. Frank Howe from his classmates, collevted by Mr. Howe in this volume. A few of the portraits lack corresponding letters, and there are a few letters without plates (their names are not listed below). The volume consists of enmgraved portraits of professors and classmates of Elijah Frank Howe from the Yale Classs of 1859. It includes an engraving of Yale College and one of Rev. Theodore D. John Chester Buttre (1821-1893) was an American steel-plate engraver and lithographer, responsible for some 3 000 engraved portraits of American political, naval and military personalities. He published "The American Portrait Gallery" in 3 volumes (1880-81) with text by his daughter, Lillian C. Buttre. Rev. Elijah Franklin Howe (1832-1887) was pastor of the First Congregational Church of Peoria, Illinois. He graduated from Yale in 1859. ADDITIONAL SHIPPING CHARGES WILL BE REQUIRED DUE TO ITS WEIGHT.
