"Dian Turlon, daughterof the self-made baron of the Alaskan salmon fishing industry, left Califo rnia on the very eve of her wedding. It was spring, and the call of Alaska,land of her birth, was so strong that she had to return just once more the see the "run," to live through the wild excitement of the spawning season. When Dian got back to Sunny Cove, she found her father gone, and his loyal old friend and foreman, Sockeye, in trouble. The boss of the cannery had q uit, but Sockeye managed to get young Jim Kemmerlee to take the job, despite the feud between the Kemmerlees and the Turlons. The fish weren't running. The only chance the cannery had to live up to its contracts was to buy "pirated" fish, which Jim Kemmerlee refused to do. No one would let Dian takea hand, for in Alaska they believe that "women and fish don't mix." Desper ate, she radioed her father to fire young Kemmerlee and hurry home. Then the fish started to run - and the cannery burned down. Despite a a brewing storm, Dian set out in her small cruiser for Ketchikan. Jim Kemmerlee set outin another small boat to rescue her. That night they holed up together in a little bay, and the feud between the Turlons and the Kemmerlees blazed fiercely into love. When they got ot back, they leagued together to catch thefishish pirates, to defy old Eagle Turlon, to break Dian's engagement and to set out for the nearest mission minister." (from the dj).
