Besides the expected this book includes : an account of the train ride from St.John's to Grand Falls (35-40), a baseball match in Grand Falls (47-49), the Forest Fires Act (50-51), spruce tea (107-8), Cormack (72, 137), Ramsey MacDonald (211-2), Hope-Simpson (212-7, DNLB p.314), a reference to Zola's description of the Battle of Sedan (133), and several vignettes of St.John's including: "Nearby, from inside the harbour the impression is that Wigan is posing as an Italian seaside town".- p.30.
