Leslie Reid : A Darkening Vision

(REID, Leslie). NEMIROFF, Diana (curated by). Leslie Reid : A Darkening Vision. (Ottawa) : Carleton University Art Gallery, (2013). Pp (5),6-80. Illustrated. Double Column. Oblong 8vo, illustrated blue paper covered boards, white spine, lettered in blue. "A Darkening Vision began with the painting Calumet Island and concluded with three monumental new works that signalled Reid's return to the landscape, specifically that of Gape Pine, Newfoundland, which she visited on two occasions. In the melancholic Cape Pine: The Road (2011), a lone set of the tracks recedes into the fog-shronrlpH distance, and disappears. Nemiroff's title for the exhibition refers not to Reid's palette, but to the intensifying feeling in her work of the tenuousness of life, of the gossamer veil separating being and nothingness." (from the Foreword by Sandra Dyck, p. 7). Covers bumped at foot of fore-edge, some minorwrinkling to text leaves, else very good. 25.00
