TYTLER, Margaret Fraser. The Wooden Walls of Old England, or, the Lives of Celebrated Admirals. London : J. Hatchard & Son, 187, Piccadilly, 1847. First Edition. Pp (8),-331,(1), (32, Hatchard's 1847 catalogue), + frontispiece. Small 8vo, blue-green pressed cloth, with gilt ship decoration to front board and spine, gilt title to spine.
There is a Miss Ann Fraser Tytler, novelist in the publisher's catalogue at the rear of this book.
According to the DNB, Ann was the eldest daughter of Alexander Fraser Tytler (1747-1813) and had one sister Jane. Which puts us no further ahead in the biography of Margaret. This book's double dedication ("To My Dear Sailor Boy, William Fitz Herbert, R—N., and to George Rawdon R—N., The Wooden Walls of Old England, is Affectionately Dedicated") offered some further hope of biographical search triangulation, but so far to no avail.
