(MACLENNAN, Hugh). Typed Letter Signed (dated June 4, 1961). Single sheet (8 1/2 x 11 inches), typed one side only, on McGill University letterhead. "Dear Professor Bennett [sic]: /par Thank you for your charming note. Never,I think, did a faineant editorial adviser do less for the magazine to whic h he was attached than I did. But I'm truly sorry, for DALHOUSIE REVIEW hasimproved its quality in every respect in these recent years. Good old McGi ll has been talking of establishing a journal for years, but has never got around to it. /par I was very sorry not to have been in town when you spoketo the alumni of Dalhousie at the LaSalle Hotel. I had wished to be, but t oo much work and bad weather had delayed all my planting operations in the country and I was down there then. /par Dalhousie seems to have developed marvellously these last years. While Montreal looks more and more like a city of oversized packing boxes, Halifax retains some old graces. Visiting my mother for a few days over Easter I compared the building done recently at Studley with what goes on here. It is incomparably better. /par With all good wishes, Hugh MacLennan." Previously folded, else very good. Signed by Hugh MacLennan. 200.00
