OLIVER, Jane, pseud. [REES, Helen Christina Easson]. Barrel Organ Tune. London: Collins, 1935. First Printing. Pp. (12),13-379,(5). 8vo, red cloth, gilt lettering to spine, top edge stained a very pale blue. A historical novel, written under a pseudonym by Helen Christian Easson Rees (b. Oct 12, 1093, Newcastleton; d. 1970). "A chronological novel, and a more ambitious book than her previous Evening of a Martinet (though we found it less delightful). The story covers an English family from Victoria's Diamond Jubilee to King George's Silver Jubilee, with Hester and Timothy, their marriage, their children, and their mutual understanding, as the focus of interest." (from Kirkus Reviews, Feb 1936). Flyleaf removed, very slightly cocked, a couple instances of underlining, a couple instances of marginal smudging, else very good. 25.00
