The first chapter is titled "Tales of the Sea" and includes narratives of the privateer Liverpool Packet, of the career of Howard Blackburn, of notable wrecks, and of the Banks fishery, among other topics. Chapter 1 (pp. 1-34) strictly nautical material. Also includes "The Building of the Mersey River Power System and Townsite" (97), "Most Survived when Liverpool Ship Torpedoed on April 20, 1942" (189), Port Medway Man Survived Sinking ofthe H.M.S.
