[H.M.S. Enterprise]. H.M.S. "Enterprise" : Story of the First Commission April 7th, 1926, to December 19th, 1928. L: Gale & Polden, (1928). Pp 193, frontis., leaves plates, 1 folding map. 8vo, red cloth, gilt to front and spine. A delightful cruise book commemorating the first commission of this 7,600 ton cruiser launched at Clydebank in 1919. In addition to a narrative of her passages in home waters and the Far East, this volume includes lists of her officers, monthly tabulations of distance run, descriptions of sporting and cultural activities on board and ashore, and photographs of exotic ports visited. Especially fascinating is an account of an operation in which Enterprise dispatched a party of Royal Marines to the S.S. Jervis Bay(pre-Fogarty Fagen), which was in danger of being burned by restive stowaw ays. Some dark spotting to upper board, else vg. 140.00
