Carl R. Griffin III began to write the story of Alberta Poole Rowe's early years on Damariscove Island. Alaric Faulkner, who was involved in an archaeological study of the island then pooled his resources, supported with numerous old photos, with Griffin. This later developed into a social history of the island community. They, along with Alberta breathed life into, and recorded the fascinating history of a once populated island that is now a protected area under the auspices of the Nature Conservancy.
