"This is a companion book to British Ships Illustrated, and the treatment of the subject is, in general, the same, although the difference between warships and merchant ships naturally calls for a slightly different sectional arrangement. Warships of all types, from big battle cruisers like the "Hood" to 9wm sloops like the "Harrier," are illustrated. Their principal particulars as regards armament, machinery, etc., are tabulated. In addition to this, there runs throughout a continuous description of British warship types slightly historical in nature, which shows how the various classes of fighting ships have been evolved into their present guise thrrough a period ot years.

The Author is well known for his researches into ail matters connected with ship types, and this represents his latest work." - from the jacket [NOTE : the jacket is not present with this copy].
