TAYLOR, Edward H. The Salamanders and Caecilians of Costa Rica. [Topeka, KS]: University of Kansas, 1952. Pp. 695-791,(1). Illustrated. 8vo, printed blue card covers, black lettering to front cover, blank spine. University ofKansas Science Bulletin, Vol. XXXIV, Pt. 2, No. 12, February 15, 1952. "Th e known caecilians and salamanders of Costa Rica are treated in this paper. The caecilians (Gymnophiona) are represented by two genera and three forms (species and subspecies). The salamanders are represented by six genera an d twenty-seven species. In the latter group the following are described as new: Magnadigita pesrubra, Magnadigita torresi, Magnadigita cerroensis, Oedipina bonitaensis, Oedipina cyclocauda, Oedipina longissima, Oedipina gracilis, Oedipina pacificensis and Oedipina inusitata. The salamander fauna is obviously an impoverished one, since, of the four families and eighteen genera occuring in Mexico, only one family and five genera reach Costa Rica. Asingle endemic genus, Haptoglossa, is known." - from the abstract. A very good, tight copy. Due to its small size, shipping costs should be a bit cheaper than quoted. 30.00
